When Daniel heard about the decree that he would not be permitted to pray to God, he went home and prayed to God anyway. As a result, he was thrown into the lion’s den.  Ironically it was King Darius who still enforced this law who became distressed by the situation and said to Daniel “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you. As you can imagine, God rescued Daniel from the lions in the den!
