We want to exercise wisdom when using the name of the Lord. If we are sincerely calling on Him to help us or calling His name during prayer, then that is fine. That is what He would want us to do. Otherwise, calling His name when we hit our toe, find something exciting or if we are angry would actually be sin.

Exodus 20:7
“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

Jeremiah 10:6 – Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

Exodus 3:14-15

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.

Philippians 2:9-11

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Matthew 1:21

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Romans 10:13

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Acts 4:30

While you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Matthew 28:18

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Acts 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:11

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Mark 16:17

And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;

Exodus 15:3

“The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name.

Isaiah 42:8

“I am the Lord, that is My name;

I will not give My glory to another,

Nor My praise to graven images.
